The objectives of the McDonald’s Drive-Thru Enhancement Initiative was to expand sales, distinguish McDonald’s from its competitors, and differentiate the drive-thru from McDonald’s destination restaurant. Five distinct themed scenarios were proposed.

In the study special attention was given to increasing the actual and perceived speed of visits through the drive-thru. Forms, color, and patterns were proposed to create a proprietary identity and a mood.
